Presented with the assignment of creating a recurring journal, I wanted to design something that encouraged creative people to work through art blocks and learn more about different techniques and artists.

A large amount of my focus was on the layout design and having the reader change their perspective throughout the issue. Using patterns and textures was important for the overall cohesiveness and organization, which would be incorporated in each additional issue.

The style changes for feature stories in order to make them stand out and have their own identity. This involves pop quotes and a different treatment to the text, going from three columns to two columns.

The book was printed and bound by hand.

This journal would be sent out bimonthly, so planning for 6 issues was a starting point for me. This desire to have a uniformed design went into the back covers as well. The first three issues are displayed below.

All illustrations and vectors were made by me.
